I randomly stumbled upon Kia’s website promoting something about to debut at the L.A. Auto Show, with this lighting silhouette, which looks a whole lot like the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and is inexplicably promoted by an anthropomorphic secret agent m eerkat that Kia has declared to be #BadAss.
Note the DRLs that extend into the grille
Ok then, Kia.

As far as I know this is the Kia equivalent of the Hyundai Venue (which slots in below the Kona, because the Kona is apparently not entry-level enough now).
It makes a little more sense in Kia’s lineup because the Soul has no awd option, whereas on the Hyundai side of the fence both the Venue and the Kona offer awd.

The four horseman:
The allegedly necessary flagship 7-seater
The ubiquitous Rav4-sized bread-and-butter
The useless swoopy-backed “coupe”
The revolutionary plug-in turbocharg ed supercharged hybr id whatever

Actually I might be mistaken. I refreshed my memory and you’re right, the Venue is a sub-Kona option only available in fwd. Supposedly it’s super tiny at only 159 inches in length .
My guess was since the Soul has the same spot in the USA Kia lineup as the Kona does in the Hyundai lineup, the Seltos was coming in below the Soul.
But now I’m not sure where the Seltos will fall relative to the Soul, as at least in India, the Seltos does offer awd, and at 169 inches long, is a bit bigger than the Kona and Soul. I suppose it could be for folks who want awd but something smaller/cheaper than a Sportage.

Would you settle for a turbo Soul with open diff fwd, torsion beam rear suspension, and little red stripes on the bottom?

Never heard of that before. Wow, it’s ugly.

Oz has the Seltos but has skipped on the Soul. Our version is front drive only and CVT only . Four grades, two with 2.0 litre atmo engine and two with 1.6 litre turbo. Targeting CX-3 etc etc...

Don’t care unless it’s the 6cyl turbocharged rally homologation Festiva that we need and deserve from Kia.

It is 100% NOT a Venue. They are completely different vehicles. The Venue will NOT have AWD. It is FWD only.
The Seltos is just slightly smaller that the Sportage.
